Essential

  • Trail running vest

  • Garmin watch with route

  • Charged phone (with route as backup)

  • Cash + debit card + driver's license

  • FIRST AID:

    • Emergency blanket

    • Blister plaster: did you know that I only had one blister during my 2000km trip?

    • Regular plaster

    • Wound cleansing wipe

    • Pocket knife: handy for ticks or splinters

  • Rain jacket (always with me!)

  • Sticks

  • Emergency tissues + plastic bag for waste

  • Eat enough: approximately 60 grams of carbohydrates per hour + reserve

  • Drink (with electrolytes)

  • Sun visor, cap or sunglasses

  • Sunscreen, lip balm

Cold drafts

  • Overpants (windproof)

  • Gloves, buff, ear warmers

  • Extra clothing; better too much than too little

Long journeys

  • Power bank

  • Headlamp

  • Water filter

  • Dry t-shirt

  • Garmin Inreach mini: satellite phone

Rainy trips

  • Waterproof gloves

  • Rain trousers

  • Complete set of dry, warm clothing in a dry bag; this has saved my life before.
