My Story

20240912_112415.jpg

In 2012, I stood watching at the finish line of the Rotterdam Marathon for the first time. It seemed impossible to me to run 42 kilometers and 195 meters in a row, but it inspired me. I started running, signed up for a 5 km race, and took it step by step. In 2015, I finished my first marathon on the Coolsingel. What an experience! I crossed the finish line in tears; three years earlier it seemed impossible, but I had simply done it.

From that moment on, my passion for running only grew. After four marathons, I discovered ultra-running in 2019. In 2021, I ran my first race in the mountains, the Eiger Ultra of 51 km with 3,000 meters of elevation gain. It was grueling, but I was hooked. A year later, I moved to Chur in Switzerland so that I could spend even more time in the mountains.

The longest distance I have walked in one go is the SwissPeaks of 177 km with 11,500 meters of elevation gain. In the summer of 2025, I walked my longest multi-day trek: the Via Alpina, a 2,000 km route through the Alps, in a record time of 38 days.

For me, running is about experiencing adventures and pushing boundaries. Your body is capable of so much if you believe you can. Ultrarunning is a challenge not only physically but also mentally. My strength lies in positivity, determination, and perseverance, and I enjoy passing on that mindset to the runners I coach.

Over the past few years, I have delved into training theory, sports psychology, and coaching. I also completed training as a mountain hiking guide and now guide multi-day hiking and trail running tours in the mountains, where I am happy to share my knowledge and experience with you.
