Via Alpina 2025

In the summer of 2025, I will have completed the Via Alpina. The Via Alpina is a long-distance route of nearly 2,000 kilometers with over 110,000 meters of elevation gain. The trail runs from Trieste in Italy to Monaco and traverses the entire length of the Alps. The route passes through no fewer than eight countries: Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France, and Monaco.

In 38 days, 2 hours, and 54 minutes, I ran the entire Via Alpina. In doing so, I officially set a Fastest Known Time (FKT) for women.

I was accompanied along the way by Kyra de Baan, one of my best friends for 15 years. With a Land Rover Defender equipped with a roof tent, she served as a mobile base, responsible for routes, groceries, cooking, laundry, finding places to sleep—basically everything that allowed me to focus as much as possible on the running.

The trek presented its fair share of challenges, from severe weather in the Alps to car trouble. Despite this, we managed to walk an average of 51 kilometers per day with 3,100 meters of elevation gain.

On Instagram , I documented the adventure with daily videos.
